New in for 2013, my first ever purchase from the website ASOS (this isn’t a review where I got free shit with strings attached, no-no. I picked it, paid for mine and will say what’s on my mind). Although I’m breaking the ‘more than tights’ fashion resolution, this was a purchase made before my proclamation. Now I’m not much of an online buyer, I prefer physically trying on items and inspecting the quality before I buy. Been an avid tight wearer, I had been searching , waiting and hoping that retailers would produce tights that came in any other colour aside from black.So when I saw Oxblood coloured tights at a reasonable price on the asos website I took a gamble, ordered a size up (just in case) and waited. Less than 2weeks later I got them and here they are, worn out for the first time. When they arrived the material seemed thinner than I’m used to but after a day of walking all over the joint, they held up and didn’t tear at the seams. I love the colour, the fact it’s the same price I would pay at the store and it had FREE delivery. But...its early days, it still has to prove its quality - with standing the friction between a fat girls thighs, if it holds together and the material doesn't thin out, then I know I’ve got a winner!

Rewind 2012 & Resolutions 2013

 This post is a collection of some of my fav fashion moments from 2012. Like they say, if you don’t look back how can you know where you’re going – or something along those lines.

In reflection of these photos I found a lot of commonalties between them that I had become oblivious to. From layering to a lot of tight wearing and lack of after 5(pm) photos, there is a bit of a ‘uniform’ look carrying through. What was once daring to me, has now become common place, so to push my own fashion boundaries and to become more comfortable in my chubby body I have come up with a FASHION RESOLUTION for 2013.

1. Show some of that skin

Not that I’ll start having my tits spilling out of tops, but dare to bare more leg and especially arms. This is a real sticking point for me as honestly I hate my bat-winged arms, so 99% of my tops have sleeves that go no shorter than my elbow. So time to flash some flesh!

2. More than tights

I love tights! They are easy to wear, comfortable and provide protection against thigh rubbage. I wear them in the day and at night; I wear them out shopping, to lunch with friends, dinner with fam, hell even to parties and clubs. But like sweat pants, they have become my ‘Go-To’ item and a look that has become quite uniform to me. So time to hit up some bottom half alternatives!

3. Night time fun

So I hate carrying chunky cameras in my lil clutch - it takes room away from the shit I have to carry that keeps my face in place. Simple solution, I have to be more conscious in taking pre-function photos. So time to click it before we hit it.

4. New camera

My point and click broke months ago, asking to borrow is becoming a hassle and iphone pic’s from my friends tend to be shit (especially in low light situations). To get better quality as well as beautiful images I have to upgrade to a DSLR, so time to save up to buy up.

5. Hair flair

I’m currently growing out the undercut part of my hair but fighting the urge to run to the hair dressers to shave it back because of its awkward in-between phase is damn hard. I have never been a girl that paid as much attention to my hair as I do my clothes but this year, with how my hair is now, I really need to change this. My idea, hit up You Tube some styling tutorials, maybe look into curling my locks or wearing my hair out. So Hair, here I come.

I wore thift to go out thriftin. This dress a mere $5.00 which is amazing considering it’s in such a great condition. Speaking of thrifting, (which yes, I know I do a lot) but I’ve been really feelin this joint which could be the theme song for all my fellow op shoppers. D.I.Y Mentality

In this post I’ve got a bit of a D.I.Y theme going on. Firstly the vest Im wearing, was previously an 80's short sleeve jacket, thrifted, cut up, recycled into something somewhat  new. Secondly the necklace was a Do It Yourself item made simply with coloured rope and hardware. The necklace was inspired by Michelle Lane’s rope jewellery collection which I thought was really cool, but being the cheap ass that I am, I would replicate my own version. Just don’t ask me how I did it, a lot of trial and error and random knot tying. So, together with my sheer top (with the very visible hot pink bra underneath) and my obligatory tights, I was ready to skate . . . if only I knew how!

Art + Design Exhibition 2012

Last night I attended the opening night of AUT’s Art + Design Student Exhibition. An annual event show casing student work from across the whole board, from fashion to graphic design, spatial to product, if you’re craving some creativity and free booze, then this is the place to be. Been that 3 years earlier I myself exhibited my own work (in Spatial Design) I knew what I was in for so I wanted to dress accordingly. Lots of people + tonz of lighting + small space = heat, so I opted for a loose shirt but wore a vest to provide warmth when the sun went down. Boots protected my lil piggies from broken beer bottles and puddles of spilt wine as well as been more comfortable for all the walking (Fuck doz dam stairs!). For accessories my fav hat to keep the bush at bay and a D.I.Y necklace (to show off my own crafty-nez). It may seem over kill to think this much about an outfit, but function, as well as form will be your best buddy at the end of the night. Being in a crowded room is uncomfortable enough on its own, last thing you want to be contending with is an uncomfortable outfit as well. My advice- any event that you haven’t been to, ask someone who has to get the lo-down. What was their experience, what did they see and do and what would they wear if they went again? Girls you can never be too prepared! Any way here’s some pic’s from the night and happy *almost the weekend* vibe.
