Something about us kiwi’s rocking a look that encompasses 2 seasons, a mix of summer and winter gear in one look. If you live or have been to Auckland or even New Zealand, then you’re well aware of the running joke of our “four seasons in one day” weather pattern. Although this summer has been liken to that of Ozz, HOT HOT HOT, today was a break with a slight cool breeze reminding us that autumn is not too far away. Personally I’m looking forward to autumn; I don’t do well with hot weather but I’m as snug as a bug in a rug in the cooler months. One of the pluses of been plus size, been already insulated against the cold!

To "NANA"

I dedicate this to you Nana! As I try my best to call you by your real name, I found myself a loop hole.... the written word. So in this post its all bout you NANA! As this, the 17^th draws to an end, your birthday is just hours away, waiting to tick another year on to your being. I have had the privilege of knowing you 7/8years and through it all, the good bad and ugly you’ve always been there (Well except that time you went to Oz, but I won’t hold that against yah...Now that your back). I wish you, from the deepest part of my fatty beating heart, a HAPPY JOLLY MERRY CHEERY BIRTHDAY. Love you always XXX coz we Ho’s before Bro’s!

Going Back

Ahhh, the vanity! So the post title “Going Back” really sumz up the fashion trend that has become an obsession lately. I may have been an 80’s baby but im certainly making up for the time now, coz im all about the old school! Call it pre-owned, pre-loved, second-hand, hand-me-downs, recycling, old school, thrift or vintage, the 80s and 90s have got a hold on me. Below are some of my recent buys, most of which are blouses, skirts and accessories (bags, jewellery). So if you want to save some cash, reinvent your style or broaden it beyond the chain store trends, hit up your local thrift and flee markets and grab yourself a bargain!

1st birthday of 2011 goz to..... Steve Man Steve

Hey Steve man Steve! I dedicate this post to you, since its your birthday next week. Lets go back to your Barbie theme 21^st last year. First, finding your perfect dress dat didn’t cost you an arm and a leg (coz were students and wer poor!). The countless stores we searched, the racks we tore up, our feet swollen from pounding the pavement of the street and the many shiny marble tiles of the malls we ventured. Weird how I found my dress before you did and it happened to be the last dress in the shop, literally ripped off the mannequin for me to buy. But above all the anticipation of your party, researching, planning and prep was fun and in the end you created a party you’ll never forget. So your another year older with memories to look back on and a future to look forward to. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE, from your study buddy Murry.

Just One of the Kidz

Meet Anne, a 19 year old Arts student, part time cook/kitchen hand and my little sis. Call it favouritism but I have come to admire her sense of style. From early begging’s where she was dressed by our old lady, forced into very girly pretty in pink ensembles to her  rebellious stage of dressing like aTom Boy, she has come a long way.

These days her look is very much reflective of the music she is so fond of, Rock with a hint of Alternative. But since me in my sis have always had a strong connection to Art and Design, we’ve always gone for a slightly weird look, not edgy, just weird.

Most times she rocks quite an androgynous look but has developed a keen sense of wearing vintage 80s frocks. Most of which is sourced from our old lady (aka mums) closet as well as our Op shop ventures. As Im fat and my sis is ‘average’ sized Im extremely jealous of her many bargain basement finds. Like a sniffer dog of vintage, she sifts through the crap, ultimately finding hidden treasures and the odd ‘label’ piece priced like a bag of peanuts!
